Safety
This shelf is not designed to hold heavy loads.
Do not pull, balance or allow anyone to hang/sit/climb with the shelf to avoid injury.
Consider shelf height placement to avoid head height and injury.
Placement in direct sunlight, close to heating or cooling sources or high humidity is not recommended and may interfere with the finish.
Warranty
Residential use is covered by 12-month domestic warranty for structural integrity.
Surface finishes are excluded from warranty due to the exposure of everyday wear and tear and environmental conditions.
Warranty does not cover misuse, faulty installation, wear and tear, scratches, marks or incorrect care or cleaning.
Exposure to heating, high levels of air conditioning, humidity, moisture or direct sunlight are not covered by warranty.
Timber is a natural product and may change in colour or appearance, shrink, split, crack, expand or contract due to environmental conditions which cannot be included in warranty.
Expenses related to a warranty claim including delivery, removal, installation or damage to third party property not included.
Shelf Location
Determine desired finish height and location for shelf on the wall.
Shelf should be installed indoors only and ideally away from direct sunlight, moisture, and direct heating and cooling.
Ensure there are no services such as electrical and plumbing in the vicinity. Isolate services as a precaution during installation.
Any power tools used encompassing a lead should be plugged into a power board that has a residual current device (RCD) safety switch for protection against electric shock.
Setout
Run masking tape along where shelf will finish.
Using a laser or spirit level mark with a pencil a level horizontal centre line.
Now mark with a pencil the start and finish point of the timber shelf.
Rod Placement
Gauge rough location of studs with a stud finder or by tapping along the wall.
Studs are generally spaced at 450mm or 600mm apart.
Find exact location using a 3mm drill bit through plaster to feel for the stud.
Mark outer edges, then determine centre (typically 35mm or 45mm thick).
Place a + mark and circle it — this is where rod will be placed.
Repeat for all studs within shelf length.
Multiple fixings are required.
All shelves MUST have a fixing on both ends between 100mm and 250mm in from the outside edge.
Rod Installation
Using a drill and a 12mm drill bit, drill a pilot hole 80mm deep.
We recommend drilling at a 1 degree upward angle.
Determine rod length by adding 80mm plus recommended rod protrusion (see table).
Outer rods may need to be shorter.
Insert adhesive into hole and tap rod in with hammer.
Wipe excess adhesive immediately.
Remove masking tape.
Shelf Holes
Measure and transfer rod spacing onto back of shelf.
Drill straight 12mm holes to required depth.
Use drill press, guide, or jig if possible.
Use depth stop collar.
Follow with 13mm hole for 1mm tolerance.
Fitting Shelf
Dry fit shelf and adjust if needed.
Apply adhesive into holes and insert shelf onto rods.
Allow adhesive to cure for minimum 24 hours before use.
Caulking
Use gap filler or silicone at rear perimeter.
Note finish differences:
- Silicone: gloss, not paintable
- Gap filler: low/no sheen, paintable
